Nutrition..When first starting out with a program such as p90x, insanity, turbo fire or any other top sellers at beachbody, the one thing that people always seem to struggle with is nutrition. Nutrition is the key to getting absolutely GREAT results. One thing that the people who got the best results from these programs have in common is that they had their nutrition locked down and they NEVER had a cheat meal during their 60 or 90 day challenge.

When I first started p90x, I spent ALOT of time trying to figure out some of the best ways to go about my nutrition for the program. I had NO idea what i was doing, I would eat this and that thinking that I was actually fueling my body with the nutrients it needed to get through my day at work and my 45 min. p90x workout.

When my program first arrived, I did take 5 minutes to glance through the nutrition guide that came with the program but I decided to go about it the harder way and try to eat what I felt was “Right” lol. I soon found out that wasnt the way to go.

I quickly learned why they do ALL of the work for you and create the nutrition guide for every program that they offer. From trial and error I cant stress how important eating the right things are. your body is your temple, its a fine tuned machine but without putting the right kind of things into it, it will no longer be that fine tuned machine. No matter how good a car looks or how fast it is, if you decide to NOT put oil or gas in it, it wont matter because you would be admiring it everyday in your drive way lol.

I try my best to educate everyone about the value of nutrition. It hurts to see someone bust their tail off with one of these intense workouts and not see results because they didnt have their nutrition squared away. So what I say is best? the nutrition guide.

I cant stress how important the information is in the nutrition guide that beachbody provides for the workouts. It literally breaks down everything you need to put into your body by percentage and the amount of calories needed if you want to gain mass or to cut weight.

One tip i give everyone is to spend a week before you actually start the program to familiarize yourself with the nutrition booklet. make grocery lists from it, go grocery shopping, start the eating plan days before you start your workout routine so you will be familiar with it. PLAN PLAN PLAN, plan out everyday. If you have a meal plan for the entire week, there is no way you can fail.

Stick to the plan and you could get into the BEST shape of your life. Say no to your kids birthday cake, say no to the office parties that provide donuts and pastries, say no to everyone that says to you “you need to eat more” or the famous just one bite want hurt. Keep your eyes on your real goal. Think about it, one cheat meal can erase 2 days of your hard work so why jeopardize that? I know i wouldnt.

Pay attention to what you eat, dont over do it and dont starve yourself. If you can find that perfect balance you will be golden. Grilling Tips For Meat

Grilling meats is one of the easiest and most delicious ways to prepare them. There is just something about the sear lines and smoky flavor that makes people’s mouth’s water at the thought of grilled meat. That’s probably why restaurants so often use pictures of meat grilling in their television and magazine advertisements. Here are some of the top tips for grilling different kinds of meat.

Beef/Steaks
Meat should always be marinated in the refrigerator; never at room temperature for safety reasons. Marinate in a food-safe plastic bag or non-reactive container such as glass or ceramic, not aluminum. Aluminum will give a strange or metallic taste to the food. Marinate less tender steaks such as flank for 6 hours to 24 hours. Tender steaks such as sirloin can be marinated 15 minutes to 2 hours, just to flavor the meat. Grill steaks over medium heat about 5 inches from the heat source. Turn once during cooking using tongs or a spatula. Do NOT use a fork, it could pierce the meat and allow juices to run out.
Cooking can take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes, depending on thickness and desired doneness.

Ribs
If your ribs are frozen, place them in the refrigerator overnight to thaw. Do not thaw meats at room temperature or you risk getting food poisoning. On slabs of ribs, remove the membrane on the bone side to allow marinades to penetrate.
Boiling ribs for a couple of hours before marinating and cooking ensures tender grilled ribs. Both pork and beef ribs can be marinated for a couple of hours or overnight. Slow grilling over indirect heat in which the ribs are not placed directly over the heat source but to the side of it, with the lid closed, is preferred. Unlike other meats, such as burgers, you should turn the ribs frequently using tongs to allow for even cooking. Grill 1 to 2 hours, depending on rib type and grill.

Chicken
Marinate poultry pieces 30 to 60 minutes. If using tomato based barbecue sauce, brush on during last few minutes of cooking to prevent burning the sauce. Grill chicken over direct medium heat. An internal temperature for breast meat of 170 degrees and 180 degrees for legs and thighs is preferred. Estimate about 7 minutes per side for boneless breasts, bone-in legs about 20 minutes per side.

Setting up your kitchen with the proper flow makes cooking easier and it helps keep your cooking area better sanitized. Here are some tips on how you can keep a proper flow in the cooking area in your kitchen.

1. There are really two parts to your cooking area. Your prep area and your plating area. If you’re right handed, your prep area should be to your left. Its the other way around if you’re left handed. You want it this way because you’ll be spend most of your time in the prep area, and stirring in the skillet on the other side.

2. You never wanna leave your knife out or in a drawer. Always use a knife block. This makes it safer and easier to keep all of your knives organized.

3. Always keep to cutting baords. One meats and one for vegtables. Also, use a wooden cutting board. Do this because studies have shown that wooden cutting boards help kill bacteria and not store it like glass or plastic.

4. Keep you salt, olive oil, and pepper in the prep area. This helps save time. Keeping your can-opener in the prep area helps save time also.

5. Having a trash can nearby is helpful too. This helps keep the prep area clean.

6. Your seasonings and vinegars should stay right above your prep area. Never keep them over the stove because the heat will dry them out and they’ll lose flavor.

7. Now on the other side you’ll have your plating area. Keep your plates in the cabinet right above.

8. Keep your cooking utensils in the plating area as well. Do this because you never wanna grease to splatter on your cooking utensils, making them unsanitary.

This proper format will make it easier to cook and and keep your cooking area clean at the same time.Cooking is easy as long as you know how to followdirections.As you learn more and more recipes, you remember how to cook them. Its really that easy. For example to make regular eggs scrambled, sunny side up, over easy it doesn’t matter, all you have to do is grease up your pan with margarine, set the stove to medium, put your eggs in the pan, and let it cook all aroound. Now to make an omelette, all you’re doing is mixing your eggs with whatever you want to put in them and cook it the same way you would make regular eggs. See its that easy. Now the problem that most people have is that they know how to make certain dishes. All they really have to do is find a recipe or cookbook and follow directions. So people don’t learn how to cook they just follow and remember directions well. All you have to do is find a great cookbook.
